Obama’s “light skin” & dialect made first plausible black candidate. No apology from Reid needed #p2 #politics

Many on the Right will claim this post as race baiting. That could not be further from the truth. There is an American reality that occurs behind closed doors that unless blown open will keep up us in a tepid state of status quo. Harry Reid expressed a point that many know as fact.

Many blacks know to that in order to mitigate a certain percentage of white paranoia toward blacks caused by false data driven stereotypes, it is necessary to make a concerted effort to appear "non-threatening" in many ridiculous forms. It sounds silly but it is a thing that all black males do whether professional, blue collar, or otherwise.

A Harry Reid statement as far as I am concerned speaks a truth that will make many think.

I agree with your comments, talked this over with my black SO and he had the same take on the incident. He also isn't offended by the word negro. I wonder if this is a generational thing, we are both in our 70s.

Was surprised at Doug Wilder's comments that we have gotten past the judgment of people because of skin color and manner of speaking. It's clearly not true if you listen to people. Certainly a lot of people have gotten more accepting but there is a hard core of prejudice which still exists. Elections are generally won by pretty small margins, it doesn't take a lot of people to make a difference.
