Nick Hanauer TED Speech–Wealthy Do Not Create Jobs–The Middle Class Does

image.png

I just saw this video in my Facebook feed and had to go to YouTube to find it. It is funny that I came across this today given that I just submitted a modified version of my blog post titled “The American Middle Class Will Revolt Against Austerity” to my local paper to place in the editorial section. From UPWORTHY BREAKING: You Know That TED Talk You Weren't Supposed To See? Here It Is. Nick Hanauer, self-described "super-rich" entrepreneur, gave a pretty compelling TED Talk about how the middle class—not the super-rich—are the real job creators. But TED, which has released over 100 different political videos in the past, thought this one was too partisan and chose not to release it. We didn't notice any flaming partisanship in it. We normally love TED, and were surprised they didn't think this talk was TEDworthy. Under pressure from the Internets, TED finally relented and released the video. Watch it and decide for yourself if it's really all that controversial to say that the … [Read more...]

The Defeat Of Barack Hussein Obama–Politics Of Destruction Must Fail

image.png

The Republicans must be careful. We always knew this was going to be a nasty election. After reviewing the hatchet job reported in the New York Times article “G.O.P. ‘Super PAC’ Weighs Hard-Line Attack on Obama”, it is evident the politics of personal destruction will be in vogue. The smear was put together by a group of high-profile Republican strategists working with conservative billionaire Joe Ricketts (founder of the brokerage firm TD Ameritrade), The intent of the smear campaign will be to tie President Obama to statements made by his past spiritual adviser, Reverend Jeremiah Wright. It will also attempt to make his relationship with Jeremiah Wright causal in the failure to completely eradicate the economic problems of our country, a problem created by 30 years of supply side economics. Why should we give this story any attention prematurely? Whenever stories like this on any side is discovered, it is important that they are preempted to remove the shock value and the visceral human carnal … [Read more...]

What If Libertarians, Occupy Movement, & Real Tea Party Got Together–Much Would Be Solved

image.png

Bryan Henry of Kingwood, TX has knocked this one out of the park. Check out his article below titled Libertarians often march to the left, to the left … .Bryan’s analysis of the real problems that afflicts us and his understanding on the issues that should unite the three major active grassroots movement is spot on. The level of thoughtful factual writing hitting the editorial pages in Kingwood Texas is something that should be replicated throughout the country. Many of the national newspapers are not addressing the issues appropriately. When editors give access to the opinion pages, those of us that continuously complain about the failure of the media should use that platform among many others to get truthful, factual, and unbiased information out to our fellow citizens. Cody Pogue, another Kingwood resident wrote the piece Root Of Evil this week. Earlier this year Marc Croes wrote Want To Stimulate The Economy? Raise the Minumum Wage. Karen Menke wrote Women’s Rights In Texas Under Assault?. Deborah … [Read more...]

The American Middle Class Will Revolt Against Austerity

image.png

Will the American middle class revolt? If we keep on the path we are on, I fear we will. When one has nothing else to lose revolt ultimately occurs. The middle class knows there is a problem. They rightfully feel insecure about the future. Yet the only solution being offered is austerity or austerity plus. Neither will give the middle class comfort or security. The middle class has been in decline for the past 30 years because of tax and economic policies that provably favor the wealthy. Every president beginning with Ronald Reagan has adopted all the tenets of supply side economics. They were swayed by faux economists that stated if taxes are reduced investments would be increased creating more goods and services. They claimed that increased economic activity would cause the recovery of the lost tax revenues. One only needs common sense and a course in economics 101 to dispel that nonsense. They want you to believe that somehow the tax dollars collected isn’t spent and placed back into circulation … [Read more...]

Link To Our Saturday’s Occupy Kingwood Video Made It On CNN.com US Main Page

Even as our local media is not covering our Occupy Kingwood weekly event, the video of this week’s event was picked up by CNN. A link to it is currently featured on the CNN.com US main page. This was our 21st consecutive week of Occupy Kingwood. Every week seem to be a bit more eventful. Today was graduation day at Kingwood’s Lone Star College. As such many of our regular students and professors were absent. Moreover some of our members headed over to senatorial candidate Sean Hubbard and another congressional candidate’s fund raiser.   I thought in order to fulfill our goal of 52 consecutive weeks (1 year), rain or shine of occupying that corner to show a commitment to change at all cost, I may be out there by my lonesome. Well, the Kingwood Area Democrats, the 99%centers, Social Democrats, Coffee Party among others showed their presence and altogether we had a full house. A little voice in the back of my head told me to bring the same amount of donuts and it’s a good thing I did. What is … [Read more...]
