Democrats Will Pay Dearly If No Strong Public Option To Healthcare in 2010

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that President Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel stated that the White House is Open to Deal on the Public Health Plan. Specifically they said his comment was “The goal is to have a means and a mechanism to keep the private insurers honest. The goal is non-negotiable, the path is negotiable” . The idea that President Obama’s Whitehouse would give up the demand for a public option for a promise from insurance companies offering competition is at best naïve.
