What was most telling was the number of people who stayed in the elements. They flew from all over this great country to speak. They were intent on making their voices heard. Annabel Park, our co-founder endured the first hour calling on speakers one after the other. Eric Byler our co-founder and Debilyn Molineaux, our director continued the next hour, and I did the third hour. Eric Byler did the final stormy shift with a bravery of a martyr. His telling speech at the end was prescient. We thought it would be the last speech in the elements as we retreated indoors to continue the marathon of speakers.
We were honored to have excellent speeches from Jesse LaGreca, Presidential Candidate Buddy Roemer, Jessica English, Thom Hartmann, Joe Sestak, and many others. We had stars and neighbors.
Lo and behold Eric Byler, Jeanine Louden, and many of us decided to brave the elements one more time as Occupy Chicago was intent on giving their speech in front of the halls of power, our Congress. They wanted their brethren in Chicago to know that they fulfilled their mandate.
On Monday several teams walked the halls of Congress delivering letters to their Congress people as well as chatting with those available. They were our citizen’s lobby.
Make no mistake, our goals are clear. With your help we will change our country. Together we will make America work again. We will ensure that the working middle class and everyone else is heard.
