If you ever wonder why our government is paralyzed you need not look much further than Grover Norquist, Conservative lobbyist and president of the taxpayer advocacy group Americans For Tax Reform. He has collected the signatures of scores of Republican senators and congress people on a Taxpayer Protection Pledge that prohibits them from raising taxes at all cost.
Irrespective of wars or emergencies he forbids them from exercising their due diligence to work in the best interest of the country for the fear that he will use his wealthy provided resources to defeat them in primaries. In the 60 Minutes snippet below, he smugly acknowledges his power as well as provide threats even as he smirks.
