It stormed all night with both thunder, lightning, and high winds. Our weekly occupy starts at 9:00 AM. I rolled out of bed 20 minutes till nine since I went to bed real late after helping my wife cleanup after Candidate for District 127 State Representative Cody Pogue’s Fundraiser held at my home.
My wife told me nobody would be showing up and I should just stay in bed. I told her that not only did I want to go out there even if I was alone, I wanted her to come with me and video a message and take a picture. I wanted evidence that we were going to be at that corner weekly no matter what. She actually came and did a picture and a video.
When I got there, Dr. Theis was already out there and he told me that Brandon called to find out if we were going to be at the corner with the bad weather. Dr. Theis told him, rain or shine we must have a presence. Dr. Theis then told me Professor Davis, a Dean at Lonestar was also on his way as he was diligently every week. Suffice it to say we were shocked when even more committed Kingwood residents showed up.
Deborah’s husband saw us on the way for his morning Starbucks and went home and told her we were out there. Deborah joined us in minutes with her usual well manicured appearance. She scolded u;. “When inclement weather is present, leave a message on Facebook, KAD Website, or Text that we will still be out there”. No problem Deb, my bad.
This is the type of commitment that will be required to change the direction of a nation. Every little activity in a positive direction makes a difference however small.
We are now at seven weeks and Occupy Kingwood is still going strong. We will continue to do this weekly to keep awareness on the issues affecting middle class Americans.
