Occupy Kingwood – A Sustainable Form Of The Occupy Movement (2012-02-11)

Well we are at Occupy Kingwood week 8. I got up in the morning knowing it was going to be a long day. After-all, I promised to get to Occupy Kingwood early with donuts by 9:00 AM, our Kingwood Area Democrats were having a brunch and candidate round up at the Kingwood Country Club at 10:00 AM, and I had my radio show at 12:00 Noon. Luckily, Eric Byler, the President of Coffee Party USA  covered for me at the show until I got back from the Kingwood Area Democrats event.

Dr. Theis was the first person present as usual and he called me wondering where the hell I was with the donuts.I was just leaving but ready for what I knew would be a great day.After-all there is something we all feel from being activist in our community. It is empowering especially when you know you are actually making a difference. Every week we get a few new people that in effect covers for those who simply cannot make it on a weekly basis. This is what makes it sustainable.

We will keep issues at the forefront that allows our neighbors to confront them inasmuch as it is just glossed over by the main stream media. Having professors and other professionals present to answer questions factually when the interested neighbor is curious or challenges our presence means that we cannot be stereotyped as anything but the average Kingwood resident confronting issues that affects us all.

Come join us. It is fun. It is empowering. It is educational. It is informative. See you on Saturday.
