Dr. John Theis Gives Correct Context to “You didn’t do that”. No one builds a business by themselves

I got a call from Dr. John Theis this afternoon asking me if I received my copy of “This is Kingwood Monthly – The Community Standard”. He was a bit perturbed that the publisher/editor of this community newspaper would take on a polarizing position as editor in a community that has both President Obama supporters and Romney supporters. After-all, as a company that seeks advertising and stories from the community it makes one view the publication not as a publicly unbiased informer but as nothing but a Right Wing propaganda medium.

The publisher/editor Michael Kelley in his editorial implies that he was a Liberal Democrat. He bought in to the Right Wing’s misrepresentation of President Obama’s statement where he said “You didn’t build that”. Of course all unbiased listeners understood that the President meant all the roads, infrastructure, education, and wherewithal that allowed one’s business success.

I am not disappointed that Mr. Kelley has an opinion and that he wanted to use his rag to get out. I am disappointed that one would expect a journalist to be more strong minded and honest with his conclusions on statements and narratives readily available. His misrepresentation of the President’s comments makes me view his publication as no more than a Right Wing mouthpiece lacking any intellectual honesty. Unfortunately this type of journalism is exactly the reason our citizenry is so uninformed and why they continuously vote against their own interest.
