The Democratic Convention, A Display Of Genuine Inclusiveness And Middle Class Centric Policies

I am attending the Democratic Convention. I am a Liberal Democrat and I was proud to be in the presence of people who went overboard to show a genuine inclusiveness that was void in the display we received from the Republican Convention.

What was interesting is that I expected everyone to be hyper-partisan as one would expect from conventions. That was not the case. The people seemed resolved to win the election not because of a hate for the other party but because of the desire to make the country better and restore the middle class in words buttressed by deeds.

While at the convention, I have been doing many CNN iReports to document the experience. I wanted to listen to the voice of the people and to get there thoughts out for everyone to see. I also created a sub-section on my blog where I am documenting my experiences.

Julian Castro’s speech was outstanding. He took the entire convention by storm. Likewise Michelle Obama knocked it out of the park. People sitting around me were in tears because in her experience many saw their own. The Obamas are the successful couple every feels they really have the ability to become.

This is a very important election. There are really two distinct choices. I listened to the entire Republican Convention and now I am at the Democratic Convention. Like many, I know the issues very well. So far in fact checking the Democratic messaging, it has been fairly accurate unlike what we got out of the Republican convention. It is difficult to give America a real choice if one of the options is fiction or a lie because of the fear that America simply would not choose said option. That is the current state of our politics.

It is for this reason I continue to stress that we must find trustworthy sources, read them, and share them. It is the only way we can make an informed vote that will be in our interest, the interest of our families, and the interest of our country.
