School Discipline Made Easy – The Transfer Of Blame Game

by George Batten

The Chicago Teacher Strike brought the many issues concerning education to a much higher attention level. As the attention level increased so did the transfer of blame game increase. Each group in the education battle blames everyone else. Teachers are greedy. There are too many bad teachers in the system that cannot be fired. Administrators are indifferent and lazy. Central administration has no concept or empathy, for what it takes to be an inner-city teacher. The lack of parent involvement in their child’s life or school is the main problem. The transfer of blame goes on and on.

What are some of the truths about this transfer of blame game? The blame game exists because a large part of our schools are failing miserably. The transfer of blame happens when no one can figure out how to fix our school problems. Only when we have successful schools throughout the entire educational system will we stop transfer of blame. The questions should be – How do we all become successful? How do we make all of our schools successful?

The first step and main step to fixing our schools and to becoming successful is to find out, "the who" or "the what", is to blame for our failing education system. The who to blame is all of us. The what to blame is ineffective and inefficient school discipline in our schools. When we solve the discipline problem in our schools, all of our schools will become successful. When we solve the "what problem", the who to blame problem will disappear.

My discipline plan is effective and efficient. Parents can be invited into a school to solve the discipline problem. Parents, teachers, and administrators can work, safely, together to bring good discipline to a school.

What happens to a school and community, when they establish discipline in a school together? A good discipline plan makes a school safe and produces the proper learning environment (two weeks). A good discipline plan establishes proper manners. Students and teachers will say "yes sir" and "no mam" when addressing each other. A good discipline plan develops self respect and mutual respect for others. A good discipline plan brings all groups together to solve our education problems.

Only when discipline is established can a person, school, or school system develop ever higher standards of achievement and success.

I believe inner-city schools can be successful. Inner-city schools can be so successful, they will produce white flight to urban schools. There is no limit to the level of success American schools can achieve, when we get discipline established, in our schools. Success in schools ends the transfer of blame game.
