Today the Senate gave a big middle finger to Newtown and 91% of America as they voted against basic gun control. What is ironic is the vast majority of Senators supported the bill but a 60% super majority was required to bring the bill to a vote. 90% of Democrats voted for the bill while 90% of Republicans voted against the bill.
This is the clearest example of politicians, specifically the current crop of Republicans not caring what the majority of Americans and in particular what the majority of Republicans want. Republicans in Congress, both the House and the Senate have gone rogue, lest we forget that the vast majority of Americans also want a balanced approach in solving the budget deficit, while the GOP supports solely pain for the middle class and poor. For those who may think this is a partisan statement it is imperative that you simply stop and seek truth. Read all of the polls.
President Obama in his press conference today displayed a justifiable anger that he generally never shows. In effect he reiterated that Congress is not effecting the will of the people. Most importantly, he laid down the gauntlet. He said the fight was not over. He said if these politicians do not do what the American people want, it is time to send politicians to Washington who will.

This vote in the Senate is proof positive that the Senators beholding to the NRA assume that Americans will just forget their betrayal. How do you kill a bill that 90% of Americans support in a democracy? If the American citizenry allows this to stand, then politicians going forward will ignore the population at large and govern based on the desires of only the powerful. This is a test case for the middle class.
