Netroots Nation 2013 Day 2

Ryan Clayton Egberto Willies

Day two of Netroots Nation 2013 was great. I first attended a panel   titled “How To Leverage Your Video For Your Cause”. We got a lot of techniques for getting it out. Most importantly the moderator provided great techniques for producing and getting the video out at the right time to increase its chance for virality.

After lunch with Jonathan Greenberg of Be Your Government I attended the Black Caucus. Among the discussion was whether a black agenda to address issues that are endemic in the black community should com out of the gathering. There was no consensus  but there was agreement that each of the major issues that affect the black affect other communities as well. My suggestion was for someone in the group to take leadership and when there needed to be some political action that needed to blossom for the community, that person should direct action. The moderator agreed and said he will have information forthcoming

While sitting at the Move To Amend booth, a Wolf-PAC volunteer  approached me and we had a short discussion on the amendment to the constitution we are working on. I asked him if their new director was at Netroots and he told  me he was. I told him to ask him to come over and meet me. I met Ryan Clayton and after some pretty constructive discussion we agreed that Move To Amend and Wolf-PAC did in fact had many synergies.

I finally got to meet Justin Lee Acuff, an Addicting Info editor and Matthew Desmond, the owner/publisher/operator of of Addicting Info. We had a blast discussing the state of our politics.

The final  session I went to was the session on Obamacare. It was great being a part of activists that will  be mobilizing both physically and online to ensure folks get the real information and sign up  for their benefits to ensure the program is a success.

To close out the night I went to the “This Week In Blackness” mixer. Met a whole lot of folks and exchanged cards. My Netroots database is getting quite large.
