The GOP destruction of America continues and they will pay in 2014.
- .Are you ready for a wave election?.
Only one-quarter of Americans think that their own member of Congress should be reelected, according to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll. That’s a sharp departure from similar polls conducted before the government shutdown.
In the new survey, 25 percent of respondents said they believe the member of Congress from their district deserves to be reelected, while 47 percent said they did not. Another 27 percent said they weren’t sure.
- GOP unlikely to take Senate in 2014.
Now, instead of sharpening their attacks on Democrats, Republicans on Capitol Hill are being forced to explain why they are not to blame and why Americans should trust them to govern both houses of Congress when the one they do run is in such disarray. Complicating the prospects, the grass-roots political force that has provided so much of the energy for conservative victories over the last four years — the Tea Party — is aggressively working against Republicans it considers not conservative enough.
- Shutdown in 3 minutes.
- Is Corey Booker’s campaign really in trouble. Bet he will beat the spread.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker was supposed to stroll to an easy victory in next week’s New Jersey’s Senate election but the popular Democrat has seen his campaign stumble along the way, leading to a closer-than-expected final stretch.
What was expected to be a sleepy end to the campaign has seen at least some light drama, punctuated with a fiery televised debate and complete with jaw-dropping accusations from GOP nominee Steve Lonegan of “bodies floating around of shooting victims” in the Passaic River under Booker’s tenure as mayor. The Republican underdog will get another spin under the spotlight on Saturday with a visit from Tea Party heroine Sarah Palin.
- President Obama, please remember the following from your news conference.
- Don’t slam D.C. for the shutdown, America: You sent these wackos here.
The people of Washington didn’t want this and aren’t to blame for it, either. All the crazy that led to this absurd impasse that prompted the Senate’s chaplain to pray last week, “Save us from the madness”? That’s been imported here from the rest of the country.
America, you sent these guys here. They represent plenty of you, none of us. That imported brand of cuckoo is what’s causing this government shutdown.
- Another Right Wing/Fox News flop.
“We saw about 20 of their trucks this morning coming from Route 66 in Virginia into Maryland,” he said. “They were going the speed limit but it was stop and go traffic, and we’ve had six inches of rain for the last two and a half days.
“Nothing materialized,” he said of the truckers protest, which had taken on a life of its own online.
