Watch Rick Weiland (D-SD) tells why Democratic values will win him the senate race

Rick Weiland South Dakota Senate Race

Rick Weiland supports adding Medicare for all to Obamacare

Rick Weiland is running for the Senate to replace retiring Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD). Rick Weiland appeared on the Ed Show on Friday with a very timely message.

“I’ve been to all the three hundred and eleven incorporated towns of South Dakota and another hundred unincorporated towns,” Rick Weiland said. “And I got to tell you, the folks out here smell a rat. Big money has taken over our government. It’s become legal bribery in Washington DC. And I don’t care if you are in a red state or a blue state, they know something is wrong.”

It is evident that Rick Weiland is a running a grassroots populist campaign. He does not intend to run away from his values as a Democrat.

“When I got into this race, I decided that, you know Democrats in the past have always tried to run like Republicans, 50% Republicans,” Rick Weiland said. “And we keep getting beat by the 100% Republicans. I am not running away from what I believe in. I am running on what I believe in.”

He later said he will be talking to his constituents about the grip money has on politicians. He will be doing it throughout the state.

When asked if he will run on Obamacare and whether Obamacare plays well in South Dakota, Rick Weiland had a shocking answer that will fire up every real progressive.

“I came out very early on,” Rick Weiland said. “I think what is missing in Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act, is it’s simply not affordable enough. I think we have to add Medicare to Obamacare. That will fix it. People should have a choice to buy into Medicare or buy private insurance if that’s what they want. I think that will bring down the cost of insurance.”

The South Dakota senate candidate then followed up his comment by slamming the overpaid insurance company CEOs. He said he is ready for the debate.

If a Democrat like Rick Weiland can run like a progressive Democrat in a red state like South Dakota, there is no reason why they all cannot run that way throughout the United States. Americans are yearning to hear a message with populist policies that will make their lives better. At this time in our history the Republicans are not offering any credible policy for the working poor and the working middle class. Politicians like Rick Weiland are.
