Journalist explodes on MSNBC over biased Palestinian-Israeli conflict coverage – ‘We are ridiculous’

Rula Jabreal

Rula Jebreal goes ballistic on MSNBC. Will she be back?

Update: They cancelled all her future appearances

Journalist/commentator Rula Jebreal may not get invited as a commentator on MSNBC going forward. She exploded about the biased coverage American media has been giving the Palestinian – Israeli conflict.

The segment started with Ronan Farrow commenting about the fact that Israel has had an affinity of embarrassing or making every US president angry. Ronan Farrow asked why can’t American leaders be more honest. That is all Rula Jebreal needed. She took off the gloves and told the truth.

“Well because of AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee),” Rula Jebreal said. “Because of the money behind it. And because of Sheldon Adelson. And because of all of us in the media. We are ridiculous. We are disgustingly bias when it comes to this issue. Look at how much air time Netanyahu and his folks have on air on a daily basis on Andrea Mitchell and others. I never see one Palestinian being interviewed on these same issues.”

Ronan Farrow pushed back a bit stating that they’ve had Palestinians on before.

“Maybe for 30 seconds,” said Rula Jebreal. “And then you have 5 minutes for Bibi Netanyahu and half an hour for Naftali Bennett and many others. Listen, the Ayman Mohyeldin story, let’ talk about this. We are home. And we can discuss this. Ayman Mohyeldin is covering the Palestinian side and we get upset. It’s  too pro-Palestinian. We don’t like it. We push him back and thanks for social media, that brought him in.”

Rula Jebreal was referring to NBC’s middle east correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin being pulled after he reported live the Israeli killing of four young boys he had been playing with in graphic detail. NBC claimed it was for his safety even as they replaced him with Richard Engel who was not as experienced in Gaza.

Eli Lake had a rather insensitive response that should be explored. He stated that America had a cultural affinity to Israel and see them as less foreign. that means conversely that Palestinians are the other and as such treated as less than. While that may be sadly true, most of the world seems foreign to most Americans. America should not judge based on one being foreign but on what is right and moral.
