Harris County Democratic Chairman Lane Lewis enumerates the reasons why every Texan should vote a straight Democratic Ticket

Harris County Democratic Chairman Lane Lewis started the 2014 Harris Democrats County Conference at around 9 AM on Saturday September 6th at the IBEW Main Hall. The room was packed with Democratic Precinct Chairs and Democratic Activists from throughout the county.

A few days ago Jim Peacock, candidate for the 157th District Court, told the Kingwood Area Democrats that he had not seen the excitement he is seeing in Harris county since his political career began. He said he has been traveling throughout the county and the excitement is palpable. That excitement was visible at the conference as well. It was obvious while watching Chairman Lane Lewis that he felt the electricity in the room.

Chairman Lane Lewis throughout the conference paraded statewide candidates like Mike Collier, Sam Houston, Steve Brown, national candidates like James Cargas, as well as past Democratic politicians and activists like Jolanda Jones.

Chairman Lane Lewis touted the running and ever increasing success of County Democratic Party phone banking and vote by mail programs that are exceeding expectations. It is obvious from the interview above that the Chairman is consistent in pushing one message, ‘vote a straight Democratic ticket.” What is even more obvious is he is ready to tell exactly why that should be the only option.

If the enthusiasm seen in the conference is used to infect the base in Harris county, it is hard not to envision a positive outcome. It is obvious Chairman Lane Lewis and his surrounding staff are firing on all cylinders. It is also helpful that he has the support from both local and national politicians.

The election is less than two months away. There is still a lot of work to be done. The mainstream media is still being used as the propaganda arm of the Republican Party as it has not become obvious to them that a change is possible. It is incumbent on the Democratic Party throughout the state to use alternative media to encourage its base and independents to counter the depressive effect of an arbitrary press.
