Watch Elizabeth Warren tell Bill Maher real reasons 2014 Election matter

Elizabeth Warren, Bill Maher, Student Loan, Election, 2014

Elizabeth Warren knows exactly why the 2014 Election matters and student loans a big part.

Elizabeth Warren was a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher a little over a week ago. She was actually the most substantive guest on the show but it got little attention because of the Islamophobic exchange that occurred between Bill Maher, Sam Harris, and Ben Affleck. The gravity of that exchange and the implications it had on an entire community needed to be justifiably challenged.

Bill Maher earlier on asked Elizabeth Warren why more Democrats do not speak like she does. Democrats do not provide the full throated populist positions that Elizabeth Warren has been articulating for some time. Her positions and her ability to articulate America’s economic ills and unfairness is the reason many think that she ultimately has a better chance of being the president the entire country could rally around.

Bill Maher notes that while there is an election coming up in a month or so, many seem oblivious to it. Elizabeth Warren laments that. However she make one of the best cases why everyone should vote in a short prose. Every politician really interested in middle class centric values need to listen to how she brings it all together. They need to go out and campaign with passion and conviction on these issues.

The media is concentrating on frivolities. Who Alison Lundergan Grimes voted for does nothing for the unemployed, uninsured, or the struggling middle class. The media is concentrating on the most inconsequential issues. The Republican establishment is very good at interjecting inconsequential issues in order to prevent debates on substantive issues they are unable to win on because their policies verifiably and materially harm the middle class. Elizabeth Warren’s message tells Americans the real reasons why the election matters.

But what this election is about is fundamentally about whose side you stand on. Part of what has happened over the last year has been the Democrats in the Senate have tried to move forward an agenda. Right. They have tried to move forward some very straight forward  bills. No one should work full time and still live in poverty. I believe we should raise the minimum wage. This one is a shocker in 2014. We actually believe in equal pay for equal work. We believe it is not your employers business what kind of birth control you use and you ought to have access to birth control. We believe the United States government should not be making a profit on student loans. We should reduce the interest rates. …

My chance was commuter college that cost fifty dollars a semester. And it opened a million doors for me. Today that opportunity is just not there. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I got growing up in that America. But I tell you, that’s the America we need to build together. And that’s what this election is about in 2014.

Enough said. You want change, you must vote, fight and continue voting and fighting to make that change.
