Greg Abbott’s Latest Excuse For Siding Against Texans Debunked By His Own Personal Injury Attorney

Abbott Spent Career Denying the Same Justice To Others He Rightly Sought For Himself

“After rightfully using the court system to secure millions for himself, Greg Abbott basically has spent his entire career telling rape victims and others in similar situations: tough luck.” – Zac Petkanas, Wendy Davis communications director.

Fort Worth – Greg Abbott’s latest excuse for using his position of power to try to deny Texans such as a rape victim, an amputee and paralyzed patients seeking the same justice he rightfully received after suing for a multi-million dollar settlement following his accident is being debunked…by his own personal injury attorney.

YESTERDAY:  “Someone in my situation, who faces my situation today, has access to the exact same remedies that I had at that time,” Abbott said. [Odessa American, 10/15/14]

But Greg Abbott’s personal injury attorney who handled his case says that’s not true:

“[Houston attorney Don] Riddle’s perspective carries more weight than most. He’s the attorney who represented Abbott all those years ago in the liability case.

“Today, a claimant would not have the same benefits,” Riddle said, “because they’d be limited by the new joint and several liability limitations.” [Houston Chronicle, Lisa Falkenberg, 9.5.13]

“No excuses from Greg Abbott can hide the fact he built his career denying other Texans like rape survivors and patients paralyzed by a cocaine fueled surgeon the very same justice he rightly got when he sued for a multi-million settlement against a homeowner and a tree company,” said Zac Petkanas, Wendy Davis communications director. “After rightfully using the court system to secure millions for himself, Greg Abbott basically has spent his entire career telling rape victims and others in similar situations: tough luck.”
