When media covers news that’s not news all suffer as real news ignored

Hyperventilating news hurt us all

The American news media is at it again. One Muslim gunman holds up a cafe in Sydney Australia. That one gunman creates a news story that goes unabated for over 24 hours is the height of dereliction. What would happen if 10 Muslims at one time are in the process of holding up a store in ten cities around the world? It would be enough to bring the American media to its knees.

There are likely scores of these events occurring throughout the country, let alone the world with no coverage. Why? The false narrative of fear – the fear that keeps every American engaged in issues anathema to their real needs, a fear that keeps Americans  so frazzled that they cannot think about things that really impact their daily lives, a fear that keeps Americans from looking out for their long term interests, a fear that would have them elect scheming politicians with the best sounding stories however untrue.

Who is covering the David Hooks story? Have you heard about it?  David Hooks was gunned down in his own home by Dublin Georgia police; not by terrorists. A false tip gave the sheriff department reason to exercise their military gear on an American citizen. It was not a lone gunman purported to be some Muslim extremist. He was killed by his own. It is a story that every American should fear, yet there is little news about it.

Who is covering the real Elizabeth Warren story and her fight against the Omnibus bill? She lost that fight. But would she have lost that fight if Americans new Elizabeth Warren was attempting to prevent the puppets of the American plutocracy, corporatist Democrats and just about all the Republicans from putting the entire worlds economy at risk? The Omnibus has a provision that allows banks to gamble the deposits of every day Americans in risky derivative schemes. This is the same scheme that brought down the world’s economy. Who was respnsible to bail the perpetrators and the world’s economy indirectly? The US taxpayers. Where is the news about the Omnibus bill replay a failed past? Why was it not the absolute main issue during the debate?

Who is covering the real possibility of an activist Supreme Court overturning crucial parts of Obamacare and its potential impact? The Supreme Court decided to take the King v. Burwell case out of sequence. There was no split in the appeals court that warranted taking on that case. The case involves whether people in states that did not setup exchanges could qualify for subsidies. An expansive or diminutive definition of the word state will determine the outcome. A negative outcome would throw millions of Americans off the insurance rolls and would put their finances, health, and life in jeopardy.

Who is reminding Americans that the deadline for getting Obamacare coverage by January 1st, 2015 was midnight on December 15th, 2014? A few stations reminded Americans in between coverage of ‘news’ that mean absolutely nothing to most Americans.

There is much happening in the country. There is much of substance happening in this country that materially affects the lives of poor and middle class America. There is enough news for cable news, broadcast news, online news, and every news outlet in between to keep Americans informed.

Why then do they all repeat the same stories ad nauseam, stories that mean little to most Americans? The reason is simple. If you are ignorant to understand who and what afflicts you, you do not know with whom you should be fighting. You do not know from whom you must take that which you have earned and that which is your birthright. You do not know who is pilfering you, your family, and your country.

Politics Done Right covered this topic last night on a program title “When news is not news real news get neutered.”
