The TPP is a clear and present danger
One of my Move to Amend partners put this together. He asked that it be given maximum distribution. What: The Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement – a 42 min video talk about the pharmaceutical industry’s conduct and the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA). Prefaced by “The Story of The Trans-Pacific Partnership (in 2 Minutes and 15 Seconds)” by Robert Reich.
Who: Dr Erik Monasterio, forensic psychiatrist and senior clinical lecturer with the University of Otago, Christchurch School of Clinical Medicine, New Zealand.
Why: U.S. trade officials say that the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) is almost ready and President Obama has allied with the GOP to support its passage. Some believe that Fast-Track Authority (FTA) and the TPP will be wrapped up by mid-March, reported Reuters. The twelve probable signatory countries account for over 40% of the world’s economy.
However, there is significant and growing opposition, both within government and without, to its “Iron Curtain” secrecy from the public including our representatives in Congress. At least four Senators, Carl Levin (D-MI), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have stood up in opposition. While the TPP is still shrouded in secrecy, the leaked parts are frightening. From food, medicine and the environment to the Internet and intelligence, the TPP is moving us towards complete corporate domination including trading away our own sovereignty and justice system for the sake of profit. It is more than a free trade deal, it’s a free for all for multi-national corporations.
