Jon Stewart challenges Fox News to a lie off as he slams Right Wing ideological war

Jon Stewart analyzes Right Wing media tactics

The video above is one of Jon Stewart’s best and most comprehensive analysis on Right Wing media tactics. It is important because thus far the tactics have been extremely successful.

“My announcement of leaving (the Daily Show) didn’t go unnoticed,” Jon Stewart said. He then showed various outlets discussing the meaning of his presence over the years. According to Megyn Kelly and other Fox News personalities, he was not a force for good, he largely added sarcasm, insults, and dishonest editing to the political discourse. That from the media network outlet that has been found purposely editing video clips to lie to their audience.

“I challenge you Fox News to a lie off,” Jon Stewart said. “Your distortion and lack of  fact footholds against mine.” Stewart then played a six second Vine clip of Fox News personalities telling 50 lies.

Jon then said that something about his show has taken hold on the Right. He showed Rush Limbaugh accusing Stewart of polarizing the country by poisoning the Republican brand. Stewart played clips of the vile and evil statements that are the modus operandi of Rush Limbaugh and his ilk. “How do you poison a cyanide factory,” said Stewart.

Ultimately Stewart uses the rest of the skit to condense the tactics used by the Right Wing to attain its goals. Basically the Right Wing claims they look bad because Liberals lie about them.

“The point is on the Right they are pretending that our truthfulness is what is important to them. Which ironically is not true,” Jon Stewart said. “What matters to the Right is discrediting anything that they believe harms their side. This mission drives their attack on all the institution that form the foundation of the country they purport to love so dearly. ”

Stewart showed clips of Sean Hannity attacking the broken government the Right Wing broke, schools the Right Wing underfunded, a voting system the Right Wing is returning to the Jim Crow years, and more. Of course they blame whom? Liberals. One should remember all the progress made in this country, the advancements, upward mobility etc. was via Liberal policies.

“You know what is the saddest part of all of this?” Jon Stewart asked. “Republicans and Conservatives are so fucking relentless in their drive for ideological purity that those institutions they complain about continue to cave for the same reason I guess that you always seem to end up going to the restaurant the four year old wants to go to. — Fine we are going to get Fribbles again. Just stop crying — Fifteen states have approved Voter ID laws in the absence of any meaningful evidence of voter fraud. An Oklahoma state committee voted to ban AP history for not sugar coating slavery enough. Abstinence is approved sex education. Scientific fact isn’t reported now. It’s debated. So let’s just stop. Let’s stop pretending that these concessions to the Right will at any point satiate the beast.”

Stewart showed Sarah Palin attacking the Pope as being too Liberal. “The Pope isn’t Conservative enough for these people,” Jon Stewart said. “So let’s stop giving into them.”

Wise words. One should engage civilly with all sides of any debate. One should even compromise. One should never capitulate as has been done in America for the last 30+ years. It has brought a declining middle class, a less educated population, and a sub-par government.
