Bill Maher to Mike Huckabee: ‘This country is not bubbaville anymore’ (VIDEO)

Bill Maher to Mike Huckabee - This country is not bubbavile anymore

Bill Maher more attuned to the South than Mike Huckabee?

Mike Huckabee was Bill Maher’s sit down guest on Real Time this week. After a few platitudes about Huckabee’s weight, They spoke about his new book, “God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy.”

Mike Huckabee attempted to give the impression that the two coasts are fundamentally different than ‘real America. “The term God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy is not a Southern recipe book,” Mike Huckabee said. “It’s really a depiction of the fact that there are bubbles of influence in places like New York, Washington, and Hollywood. And then there is a whole bunch of America in the middle often called flyover country. But my term for it over the past few years I said, when people would ask me where I live, I’d say I live in the land of God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy. And by that I mean it’s a place if someone comes up and says You know ‘I heard your mother is sick and in the hospital, I am praying for her.’ Nobody is creeped [sic] out by that.”

Bill Maher slammed back. “They say that everywhere. You don’t think people pray in California?”  Maher told Huckabee that it is weird that he hears that all the time when the reality is that most Americans irrespective of parties or ideologies are Christians. He then wondered why it is that many Christians continue to feel a false persecution in America.

Bill Maher enumerated a list of Southern cities where he received great audiences. They were cities in several Southern states that Huckabee had won. Maher told Huckabee, “I think I know Bubbaville better than you do.” He then told Huckabee that the country is not Bubbville anymore.

Ironically Fox News Megyn Kelly told Mike Huckabee something similar when he was peddling the book on her show.

“Well, I do have some news for you before I let you go,” Megyn Kelly said. “We’re not only swearing. We’re drinking, we’re smoking, we’re having premarital sex with birth control before we go to work, and sometimes boss around a bunch of men.”

Mike Huckabee suffered the same fate on Jon Stewart a few weeks back. One would have thought he would have changed his tune by now. The reality is that he cannot. He will attempt to use the falsely maligned and victimized Bubbaville to create a platform for his presidential bid.
