Chuck Todd displays Right bias as he becomes Jeb Bush's apologist

Chuck Todd continues to show a media bias to the Right

Chuck Todd continues his inconsistent journalistic behavior. Every so often he would present some good unbiased journalism. Over a few weeks this year a few of his pieces have been highlighted where he was in fact fair and balanced.

On February 1st Chuck Todd challenged Paul Ryan on the success of the Obama economy appropriately but was less than optimal in his challenge to Paul Ryan’s responses. On Sunday February 22nd he did a very good piece where he channeled Jon Stewart as he went after those attacking the President unfairly. On March 8th he did a very good piece on Obamacare. Sadly there are not enough of those that warrant the platform he has been given. You can find more on the ups and downs of Chuck Todd’s reporting here.

Today illustrates his rather inconsistent journalism. The video above is illustrative. Both ABC’s This Week and NBC’s Meet The Press covered Jeb Bush’s flip flop on Indiana’s Religious Restoration Act.

This Week’s Jonathan Karl simply reported the flip flop. “He was exactly where Pence was,” Jonathan Karl said. “So fully supportive of the original signing of the law and fully supportive of the revision to the law. So you get both be seen as intolerant by some and as a squish by others.” This was surprising as Jonathan Karl has become an attack dog against the Left as he generally placates the Right.

The coverage on Meet The Press was quite different. When Helene Cooper started to discuss Jeb Bush’s flip flop, Chuck Todd immediately interrupted and came to the defense of Jeb Bush. “They argue, by the way let me put a caveat in here because I accused them of flip flopping,” Chuck Todd said. “Their folks pushed back and said wait a minute. Had he been allowed to explain himself further …, they would have provided more context.”

That interjection would be welcomed if Chuck Todd provided that same type of clarification when the Right came to his program and provided lies and misinformation. Most of the times he had the other side’s truthful story but refused to challenge them or bring it up to his viewers. This hurts our democracy as our people remain ill-informed.
