Attorney General Loretta Lynch swearing in ceremony (VIDEO)

Loretta Lynch

Loretta Lynch sworn in

Loretta Lynch was sworn in as the 83rd Attorney General of the United States. She is the first Black woman to hold the job. Republicans delayed her confirmation spitefully for over 163 days.

In her speech after the swearing in, Loretta Lynch praised her father father, mother, and husband for always being there for her. She thanked all of those who had been pushing to get her confirmed. She said a few words from many were very inspiring to her and many times made things better.

According to the Huffington Post,

Lynch, who until now was U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, was confirmed by the Senate last week after months of GOP delays. Many Republicans voted against her confirmation, not because she lacks the qualifications but because they are mad about President Barack Obama’s recent executive action on immigration. Lynch will defend the action in her new role.
