Martin O’Malley Presidential Campaign Announcement (VIDEO)

Martin O'Malley Presidential Campaign Announcement

Martin O’Malley

Martin O’Malley is Hillary Clinton’s second announced opponent for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. O’Malley gave the standard Democratic speech covering broad middle-class centric issues. Unlike Bernie Sanders who provided a broad road map to solutions, O’Malley simply described the funk that the poor and middle-class are in.

Martin O’Malley did have a memorable story in his speech that all should heed.

“True story. Goldman Sachs is one of the biggest repeat investment banks in America,” Martin O’Malley said. “Recently the CEO of Goldman Sachs let his employees know that he’d be just fine with either Bush or Clinton. I bet he would. Well I’ve got news for the bullies of Wall Street. The presidency is not a crown to be passed back and forth by you between two royal families. It is a sacred trust to be earned from the American people. An exercise on behalf of the people of these United States.”

O’Malley went on to paraphrase Elizabeth Warren. “The only way we are going to rebuild the American dream is if we retake control of our own American government.”

Martin O’Malley ended on a populist note. “And so when a child with a world of learning ahead asks you who you voted for, I want you to be able to tell that child ‘I voted for you’. When you see a dad sweating through another long shift in order to give his daughter a better future, I want you to be able to tell that dad ‘I voted for you’. When you see a mom working long hours at two jobs for the dream of being able to send her only son to college, I want you to be able to tell her ‘I voted for you’. And when you see a young father who hungers for a decent job to support his family, I want you to be able to tell him ‘I voted for you'”.

To close O’Malley then issued the generational call. “For the story of our country’s best days is not found in a history book because this generation of Americans is about to write it.”

Martin O’Malley then officially announced his entry into the race
