McKinney Police Officer Eric Casebolt attorney attempts to defend his deplorable acts 2

Eric Casebolt’s Attorney’s Press Conference

Jane Bishkin, the attorney for Eric Casebolt’s, had a press conference a few hours ago. Eric Casbolt is the  embattled McKinney Texas police officer that brutally manhandled a 15 year old teenager at a disturbance at a pool party.

Jane Bishkin first reiterated that Eric Casebolt resigned from the McKinney Texas police department. She said he resigned in hopes that it would start the healing process. Bishkin then went into a rather bizarre preamble in an attempt to ‘explain’ why he acted out of character.

Bishkin said that Eric Casebolt two previous calls for that day were a suicide and an attempted suicide. She thought it necessary to specify that the first call involved the suicide of a black man. She said Casebolt spent time consoling the man’s wife.

The second call involved a female teenager threatening to jump off the roof of her house. One wonders why she did not specify the race of the teenage girl attempting suicide. Jane Bishkin said that the nature of the two suicide calls took a toll on officer Eric Casebolt.

One can sympathize with all police officers who must endure the horrors that humans can inflict on themselves and other humans. Misbehavior because of past calls for a trained police officer is unforgivable. What is worse is the selective abuse of a particular group because of said pain. Inasmuch as Casebolt said he was not targeting minorities, all the different videos circulating prove otherwise.

Eric Casebole’s attorney offered a qualified apology that rang hollow. A reporter asked a question at the end that went unanswered. If true it makes the attempted rationalization of his behavior and his apology moot. “Can you say whether or not officer Casebolt posted the video of the incident to his personal YouTube account?” asked a reporter. Jane Bishkin abruptly ended the press conference.

Why that question? There is a report on Gawker showing a YouTube account presumably belonging to Eric Casebolt that added the video of the event to a playlist of police videos that indicate a ‘certain mindset.’
