Jon Stewart calls out Fox News complaints about Charleston narrative using their own footage (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart uses Fox News own footage against them

Fox News has spent quite a bit of time complaining about the ‘liberal’ media coverage of the Emanuel AME Church massacre. Jon Stewart first alluded to Fox News’ inability to discern that the murders by Dylann Roof was a race based terrorist act. Many have written posts about Fox News early attempt to deflect the real genesis of the massacre by conflating it as an attack on Christianity. In fact they even discussed arming pastors.

Jon Stewart as only he can summarily illustrated the hypocrisy of Fox News’ complaints. He showed talking head after talking head criticizing the ‘liberal’ media with phrases like, “the race to politicize the senseless South Carolina church shootings”, “so they couldn’t wait?”, “you could’ve waited for some of this. We haven’t even buried our dead yet.”, “they try and blame guns and do everything but it’s misdirected.”, “The President is blaming guns, liberals are politicizing this.”, “The bodies aren’t cold and you have people trying to score political points.”, and on and on.

“They are amazing at what they do!” Jon Stewart said exasperatedly. “Remember this past December when two New York City cops were tragically killed during a time when people were protesting police shootings of unarmed black men? Talk to me about the restraint Fox News used in not advancing the narratives.”

Jon Stewart then showed the avalanche of attacks by Fox News on New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. They had their personalities using phrases like “I personally feel that Mayor de Blasio, Sharpton, and others like them, they actually have blood on their hands”, “Many are claiming that New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio helped fan the flames of  anti-police sentiment.”, “the violent anti-police rhetoric that has helped poison the minds of many including the deranged gunman.”, “I think the President has undoubtedly created racial tensions that worsens the situation for law enforcement.”, “You have to put the blame at the president.”, and on and on.

“So you used no restraint,” Stewart retorted about Fox News. “And remember this guy? Rich, body are not cold yet, disgusting, Lowry?” Stewart reminded all that only 4 days after the police deaths, he penned the op-ed “Lowry: Stop lying about the police” in the National Review.

Fox News should be embarrassed. If they were a real news organization they would. But then again they have proven with their coverage, issue after issue, that they are nothing but the propaganda arm of all things Right Wing. They are a clear and present danger to America. They are a clear and present danger to the well-being of us all.
