NBC fires Donald Trump for his anti-immigrant comments

NBC: Donald Trump, YOU ARE FIRED

NBC Universal has effectively fired Donald Trump. They released the following statement.

NBC STATEMENT REGARDING DONALD TRUMP
Press Release
June 29, 2015
At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values.

Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.

To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC.

In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in “The Apprentice” on NBC.

“Celebrity Apprentice” is licensed from Mark Burnett’s United Artists Media Group and that relationship will continue.

What did Donald Trump say specifically? He said the following when he announced his presidential candidacy to represent the Republican Party.

When do we beat Mexico at the border? They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity. And now they are beating us economically. They are not our friend, believe me. But they’re killing us economically.

The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems.

… When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people.

Even billionaires can suffer consequences if the masses forces the hand of corporations. We must continue forcing their hands on issues of material consequence as well. A million people are more effective than billions of dollars at the ballot box and to the well-being of corporations.
