Jon Stewart uses Mike Huckabee to illustrate the Trump-ification of GOP Primary (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart uses Mike Huckabee to illustrate the Trump-ification of GOP Primary.

Jon Stewart uses Mike Huckabee to paint the picture without saying a word

Jon Stewart without saying a word uses news clips and Mike Huckabee’s slew of offensive statements to deliver a striking indictment of the GOP Primary. Stewart starts out by playing a Fox 5 clip that pointed out that the United Nation Security Council unanimously approved the Iran Nuclear deal negotiated by the Obama administration and other powers. He then played Mike Huckabee’s irrational response to the nuclear deal.

In an interview Mike Huckabee said, “This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

Without saying a word Stewart allowed the media, Democrats, and Republicans to respond. The response from all sides slammed Huckabee for his tasteless comparison. Huckabee in subsequent interviews stood by his comments. After-all, he claimed he stood by those ovens.

Stewart then showed the two faces of Huckabee. He showed the jolly bass playing pitchman vs the man with a mean streak. There was a subliminal message there. This is the same Huckabee that has been peddling a dubious diabetes treatment with one of his infomercials. Can he really be taken seriously or is he like many in the GOP primary, simply using it to extract some cash out of their supporters.

Stewart then uses Nia-Malika Henderson to explain much of what these characters are doing. “There is this Trump effect that I think is going on with some of these candidates,” Henderson said. “where they want to say things and double down on them to get some attention.”

Why do they want the attention? They know they don’t stand a chance of winning the GOP primary let alone the presidency. They are not offering any serious policies to stimulate a middle-class centric debate or dialogue. But they can sure sell more dubious diabetes treatments, books, and other wares. While it is funny, it is unhealthy for our democracy. Have fun. Have a laugh. Simply do not be fooled that there is anything serious about the happenings in the Republican Primary at this time.
