Cincinnati Police Officer Ray Tensing shooting Samuel Dubose
The Daily News reports
The University of Cincinnati cop who killed a driver during a traffic stop over a missing front license plate will be charged with murder for the shooting that enraged the city earlier this month.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters ripped into Officer Ray Tensing as he announced the grand jury indictment during a Wednesday press conference.
“This is the most asinine act I’ve ever seen,” Deters said of the shooting. “This does not happen in the United States.”
Tensing shot and killed Samuel DuBose on July 19 after the officer pulled him over near the university campus for a missing front license plate.
In a police report, Tensing said he was “dragged” by DuBose, forcing him to shoot. In his radio call, the cop said he had nearly been run over.
But Deters said video from the stop showed no such thing: instead DuBose slowly pulled away from the stop, and Tensing “fell backward after he shot (DuBose) in the head,” the prosecutor said.
