Rick Perry suspends his bid for the presidency
Rick Perry has decided to suspend his presidential bid with a rather delusional speech. He colored his rhetoric with a message of racial and cultural unity. He highlighted an economic success in Texas that has missed most. He forgot to note that he has sentenced many of his citizens to death as he refused the Medicaid Expansion to Obamacare.
The Houston Chronicle reports the following.
After struggling to attract voter support and raise enough money to pay his campaign staff, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is suspending 2016 presidential bid.
Perry is set to announce his decision in a speech in St. Louis Friday afternoon, according to a copy of his remarks released by his campaign.
“We have a tremendous field – the best in a generation – so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands, and as long as we listen to the grass roots, the cause of conservatism will be too,” Perry is set to say in the speech. “I share this news with no regrets. It has been a privilege and an honor to travel this country, to speak with the American people about their hopes and dreams, to see a sense of optimism prevalent despite a season of cynical politics.”
Perry will become the first of 17 major candidates to drop out of the Republican field.
