The Daily Show Trevor Noah rips U.S. healthcare system after his medical scare surgery this week

Trevor Noah rips American healthcare

Trevor Noah said when he got Jon Stewart’s job at The Daily Show many asked him how was he going to be able to comment on American experiences given that he is South African. He told them he would simply have to experience America.

“Well I am going to have to experience America,” Trevor Noah said. “What better way than enjoying American healthcare system for myself. It was an interesting experience going to the emergency room.”

Noah had a medical scare. BBC News reported the following.

Comedy Central cancelled Wednesday’s live show and aired a repeat, but said “the procedure went well” and Noah was “currently recuperating from surgery”.

“We expect he and the show will be back with an original episode tomorrow,” said a statement on Twitter.

The South African replaced Jon Stewart, who stepped down after 16 years.

Trevor Noah recounted what every American knows about healthcare in America. If you have your breath and your voice and the ability to move your hands, it is all about answering financial questions and filling out forms.

Even as Noah was doubled over in pain walking to the triage room, he was hounded about whether he could afford medical service. Does anyone see the immorality in such a system where even in unbearable pain and sick, the ability to pay is more important than service?

Trevor makes light of it. However if his emergency room experience as a wealthy insured person was so bad, think about those who have no insurance. Think about those who have no celebrity and cannot be recognized like he was.
