Ben Carson responds to Donald Trump’s vicious attack (VIDEO)

Ben Carson responds to Donald Trump’s vitriol with class

Ben Carson responded to Donald Trumps most recent vitriolic attack with a lot of class. One wonders if this will elevate Ben Carson somewhat even if Trump holds on to his core.

Ben Carson started his news conference in South Carolina acknowledging the elephant in the room. “I know there is probably going to be a lot of questions about ‘What are you going to say about Donald Trump and his attacks,” Carson said. “Here is what I would say. Now that he has completed his gratuitous attacks, why don’t we press on and deal with the real issues. The reason that I am in this race is because there are some real profound issues that affect the trajectory of our country right now. That’s what the people of America are concerned about. Not so much politics as usual, politics of personal destruction. That’s what people are sick and tired of. And I am hopeful that at some point we reach a level of maturity that we can actually deal with the issues that are facing us right now. And stop getting into the mud and doing things that really don’t matter.”

The first question Carson got was what he thought about Donald Trump telling Iowans they would have to be stupid to believe his redemption story. Carson said it was not up to him to respond. It is a decision people have to make in responding to the politics of personal destruction or something better.

Another question asked was whether Trump had the temperament to be president. Ben Carson said Trump’s behavior is not one he would adopt. He said it is a long campaign for good reason. People get the opportunity to assess individual candidates.

When asked about Trump equating him with a pathological child molester, Carson said he hopes Trump’s advisers would help him with definitions. When asked if he was owed an apology for being called a child molester, Carson rightfully stated that Trump did not call him a child molester. He then said he will not buy into what the press is doing.

Ben Carson handled this issue very well. Unfortunately he was the Donald Trump when he virtually insulted President Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast. Unfortunately even as he asks folks to grow up and start talking about real issues, he continues acquiescing to the ignorance of a particular sect within his party.
