Bernie Sanders forces both Donald Trump left
The proof of the power of Bernie Sanders’ message is that after moving Hillary Clinton to the left, he has Donald Trump doing the same. First, it was Hillary Clinton who has been sounding like a slightly less left version of Sanders, though acceptably left for most Democrats. Now it is Donald Trump that is willing to lie in order to grab a piece of the left. Apparently even his constituents on the Right have left leanings even if they do not acknowledge them publicly.
Yesterday I wrote about Bernie Sanders making a play for the Donald Trump voter.
Sanders said that so far Donald Trump has successfully channeled that anger and fear energy into attacks on Latinos, Muslims, and others. He has made the others the scapegoats.
Sanders effectively points out that all the things that are in fact good for Trump supporters are opposed by Trump. Trump is anathema to a higher minimum wage. Donald Trump thinks wages are too high. He is supporting more tax breaks for the top 0.3% of Americans.
Bernie Sanders says he thinks he can make the case that if the real issues that affect the middle class are to be addressed, he can be their candidate to do so. He said the fears Americans have are legitimate. They however can only be addressed by Americans coming together to demand that Congress pass legislation that creates decent paying jobs, raises the minimum wage, supports pay equity for women, and makes college affordable for all.
While Trump woos his base with anger devoid of real solutions, Sanders articulates their problems with concrete policy solutions. If they open their minds sufficiently long to listen and analyze the Sanders message, the result of their analysis would give Trump and his ilk immediate pause.

Of course Bernie Sanders did not lie. Chris Hayes exposed Donald Trump in the video posted above where on several occasions he explicitly said wages are too high.
Donald Trump lies a lot. He is never called out where it matters for those lies, face to face on live TV. One thing is evident, Donald Trump knows how to fight. And he fights dirty. The truth is never an obstacle. Anyone running against him better realize that. More importantly Donald Trump does not ever leave an attack unanswered. Democrats better learn that. One should never assume that the public will discern the truth. Donald Trump and his ilk are professionals in morphing lies and misinformation into truths long enough to win elections.
