David Bowie will be missed
The Houston Chronicle is reporting that David Bowie has died at the age of 69.
David Bowie, the brazen British singer-songwriter who had an immeasurable influence on music and style, becoming one of the most important pop culture figures of rock and roll era, died on Sunday. He was 69.
His death was confirmed in a statement posted to Bowie’s official Twitter and Facebook pages. “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer,” it said.
Duncan Jones, Bowie’s son, responded to fans who believed the announcement was a hoax. “Very sorry and sad to say it’s true,” he said. “I’ll be offline for a while.”

The influential singer-songwriter and producer excelled at glam rock, art rock, soul, hard rock, dance pop, punk and electronica during his eclectic 40-plus-year career. He just released his 25th album, Blackstar, Jan. 8, which was his birthday.
