Texas man arrested for shooting at Democratic candidate for sheriff HQ on election eve (VIDEO)

Texas man arrested for shooting at Democratic candidate for sheriff HQ on election eve

Candidate for sheriff’s campaign HQ shot up by racial slur shouting pistol carrying man

A Texas man yelled racial slurs at the campaign workers and supporters of  Democratic candidate for Jefferson County sheriff Zena Stephens’ headquarters. He then then shot at the campaign HQ in Beaumont, Texas. Beaumont is about 85 miles east of Houston, Texas.

According to a witness, the gunman was riding in a white Cherokee jeep. Tanya Robertson of Port Arthur Texas and a member of the Zena Stephens’ campaign said the gunman was white and shouted ‘f*** those n*****s’ and then shot at the headquarters.

Another witness described the jeep as an older model jeep. Soon thereafter a tip came into the police. They found what is thought to be the jeep. According to the Daily Mail,

It is believed that around 25 people were inside the office when the man stuck, including several members of her family. But despite the weapon causing the glass at the front of the building to shatter, nobody inside was hurt. She told NBC News: ‘Anytime something like that happens with innocent people around you’re concerned for them. ‘I don’t know if it was a random act or whether it was targeted, but I just think it is, you know, ignorance.’ According to the Beaumont Police Department a convenience store down the street from her office was also targeted by the man, who was said to be in the passenger seat of the car. Officers later tracked down the vehicle and found two weapons inside. One man was arrested and four others were taking in for questioning.

Tanya Robertson’s words in her interview with 12NewsNow should ring out to everyone. “It is ridiculous to know that we are in 2016 and racism still exists,” she said.

Candidates like Donald Trump and their vile rhetoric are heard by many. These are the types of actions that occur when the environment is made ripe by irresponsible leaders and candidates.
