President Obama schools Ted Cruz on democracy using Cuba as backdrop (VIDEO)

President Obama schools Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz schooled by the President

President Obama appeared at a news conference in Argentina. When asked about Ted Cruz comments about aggressive policing in Muslim neighborhoods, President Obama gave Ted Cruz a lesson in democracy. Given  Ted Cruz’s Cuban heritage, the President implied Cruz should know better.

“As for as the notion of having surveillance of neighborhoods where Muslims are present,” President Obama said. “I just left a country that engages in that kind of neighborhood surveillance. Which by the way, the father of Senator Cruz escaped for America.  The land of the free. The notion that we would start down that slippery slope makes absolutely no sense.”

President Obama’s message followed a response in New York by Commissioner William Bratton who called out Ted Cruz as well.

“I would remind the Senator that he lives in the United States of America,” William Bratton said. “The statements he made today is why he is not going to become president of this country. Because we do not need a president, who doesn’t respect the values that form the foundation of this country. I have over nine hundred very dedicated officers in this department, many of whom do double duty. They serve as active-duty members of the U.S. military in combat, something the Senator has never seen. So before he starts denigrating any population group, take a close look at who he is denigrating.”

President Obama allowed the listener to infer the character of Ted Cruz. Commissioner William Bratton was explicit. Both Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are a clear and present danger to America. It is important that people of political stature join the fray in admonishing these candidates. They better do it now lest we pay the price later. The United States of America does not need a demagogue in the White House.
