A frank conversation with co-founder of the ‘Bernie or Bust’ movement (VIDEO)

Victor Tifanny, Bernie or Bust 2

Bernie or Bust movement co-founder

I received calls promoting the Bernie or Bust movement over the last two weeks on my show Politics Done Right. Last week I spoke to a young man who said he would rethink his position after we had a civil discussion on the issue.

This week none other than the co-founder of Revolt Against the Plutocracy and the Bernie or Bust, Victor Tiffany, called in. He pointed out that said the movement is collecting signatures and doing a great job organizing. I commended him on his organizing effort. I, however, admonished him for the stance of his movement which is dangerous for many poor and middle-class Americans.

Victor will likely do fine irrespective of who wins the election. Many Americans do not have that luxury. If someone is elected who attempts to put roadblocks on many of President Obama’s initiatives, many will suffer. Kentucky replaced its Democratic governor with a Republican governor that vowed to dismantle Kynect, their version of Obamacare. So far there is much confusion in the state’s healthcare.

Empathy on all sides is a must. Attempting to make a point is one thing. Taking a position that harms American citizens is inexcusable. The Bernie or Bust movement may give some satisfaction if effected. That joy would be short lived. We were not able to complete the conversation as all the lines for the show were filled up, and I had to get to other callers.

You can check out the entire show titled “Does Bernie Sanders’ Single-Payer/Medicare-for-all sound good now?” at the Politics Done Right blog post for the show. Drop me a line and tell me what you think. Please share widely to keep the discussion about improving our health care in the forefront of the national debate. Only then will we be successful in undoing the damage made by those who put profits over humanity.
