An intelligent head of state
I have been very impressed with Canada’s new head of state, prime minister Justin Trudeau. Just like President Obama was underestimated, it seems that PM Trudeau suffers the same fate.
CBCNews reported the following.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau affirmed today a budget announcement of $50 million for the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ont. “It’s extremely important to underline just how essential the work being done here is, not just for Canada but for the entire world,” said Trudeau. “The investment we’re announcing today will strengthen the Perimeter Institute’s position as a world-leading research centre in helping advance Canada’s role as a leader in the global scientific community.” Trudeau’s visit to the think-tank was met with much anticipation: a crush of media and spectators, and even a high-profile video welcome from star theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.
It seems a reported attempted to change the subject at hand at one of Trudeau’s news conference. The reporter sarcastically said he was not asking the prime minister to explain quantum computing. He asked a question on ISIL. Trudeau showed uncanny humor in explaining quantum computing, the subject at hand.
It is refreshing to watch an assertive head of state that is also intelligent. Hopefully, the next President of the United Sates will be someone we can be proud of as well. The last eight years made us proud. Previous to that we suffered eight years of embarrassment. We need not return to that bleak past.
