Lee Camp ends with the most prescient message
Bernie Sanders supporters need not be deflated by the New York results if they remember to heed the message Lee Camp articulates perfectly at the end of the clip. He builds up to it quite nicely.
Camp first points out the disrespect with which MSNBC, the presumably Liberal station, treats Bernie Sanders. They jokingly dismiss his crowds. Inasmuch as he won the last 8 out of 10 elections, they suggest that he should withdraw. Ironically no one points our that theoretically speaking, just like Hillary Clinton had some lopsided wins, Bernie Sanders has as well. Moreover, one never knows if the frontrunner will slip up and lose their mojo. It is always best to keep all wheels greased. In fact, Hillary Clinton said as much when she ran against then Senator Obama in 2008.
Lee Camp points out the main reason for Bernie Sanders’ loss. It was a close election where independents could not vote. Over 3 million independents were unable to vote in either the Republican primary or Democratic Primary.
Additionally, there were multitudes of irregularities, all in favor of Hillary Clinton.
- 126,000 voters, likely Bernie Sanders voters in Brooklyn, were purged from the voter rolls.
- There was a 368% increase in complaints compared to 2012
- Polling sites in counties that favor Bernie Sanders opened at noon instead of the 6 AM usual time.
- 43,000 postcards were mailed to new voters, like Sanders’ voters, with a wrong election date.
Yet Bernie Sanders was competitive in New York. Lee Camp’s closing statement is one that Sanders supporters and every Liberal and Progressive must heed.
“New York actually showed us that this is not over,” Camp said. “This is not about Bernie. It’s about a movement, a movement with ideas that don’t have a map, a timeline, or an expiration date. They just are. And they will continue to be until we pull this country and this world back from the clutches of egomaniacal millionaire sociopaths.”
