Stephen Colbert skit was rather funny. But was it? Really?

Stephen Colbert points out one of Donald Trump’s secret weapons

The Stephen Colbert was funny on the surface. He first made some fun of Donald Trump talking about turning on an aircraft carrier as if it were a car. Colbert was making fun of his complete lack of reality based intellect. He then moved on to the topic of the day. Trump fired his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

“It’s detailed policy statements like this that could be the reason why the Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was fired today,” Colbert said. “Which is shocking. Somebody was managing that campaign?”

Colbert wondered why the Trump campaign doesn’t seem concerned about its internal turmoil. He then unveiled one of Trumps secret weapons, Scott Baio.

A host on Fox Business asked Baio why the President was so reluctant to say, Islamic terror. His answer was shocking, to say the least.

“Very reluctant? He is absolutely reluctant,” Baio said. “I can’t tell Lester whether he is dumb, he is a Muslim, or he is a Muslim sympathizer. And I don’t think he is dumb. So, at a certain point if you are having a party at your house Lester, and you know that two percent of the people coming to your house want to kill you, won’t you want to either know who is coming into your party or nor have a party? What is the solution?”

Colbert’s response was prescient.

“I don’t know what’s more surprising,” Colbert said. “Scott Baio’s opinion or the fact that some asked Scot Baio’s opinion.”

Trump’s secret weapon is the ignorance of his constituency. He just needs to convince a few others to hold their noses and pull the lever for him.

To be clear, the President eloquently detailed why he refuses to capitulate to those who would want his language to be that of bigots.

But here is an important question. What was Scott Baio doing on Fox Business?
