Neither Christianity nor Islam has a monopoly on violent passages in the Bible and Quran respectively.
Bible has the same kind of violence as Quran
Fareed Zakaria did a necessary service to the country’s intellect with his documentary “Why they hate us.” He paralleled passages from the Bible and the Quran to illustrate that both instructed their followers to inflict harm on others, to kill others for certain violations of the religion tenets.
Many have been trying to equate Islam with evil and violence as if violent passages were exclusive it. After the massacre in France, famous Right Wing Pastor Robert Jeffress took a rather immoral position that is unexpected from a man of the cloth.
Lest we forget, many Christian effected many violent acts in the name of Christianity. A Christian for ideological reasons killed abortion Doctor George Tiller. Another Christian killed several at a Planned Parenthood Massacre in Colorado Springs also for ideological reasons.
We must not give any religion a pass for violence. Likewise, we must not single out any religion because some effect violence in the religion’s name.
