Suspension of open carry because of police safety at RNC? (VIDEO)

Steve Loomis open carry

If open carry is unsafe for police and the RNC, should it not be unsafe for us all?

The Police Union wants a suspension of open carry?

It does not take rocket science to know that ‘open carry’ and for that matter ‘concealed carry’ is dangerous for the public at large. Like little school boys many states passed these laws under the pretense that the 2nd Amendment justifies it.

The murders of the eight good police officers, Philando Castile, and Alton Sterlin all have a component of their respective tragedies engulfed in these childish laws. No one will accept the responsibility, however.

The president of the Cleveland Police Patrolman Association Steve Loomis now wants Governor Kasich to suspend open carry laws during the convention. Kasich said that he does not have the power to do so.

Mr. Kasich’s office rejected the idea as legally impossible.

“Ohio governors do not have the power to arbitrarily suspend federal and state constitutional rights or state laws as suggested,” Ms. Kalmbach said. “The bonds between our communities and police must be reset and rebuilt – as we’re doing in Ohio – so our communities and officers can both be safe. Everyone has an important role to play in that renewal.”

If the law needs suspension because of an event like the RNC, it is not worthy of being a law in the first place.
