Jon Stewart made a cameo on Stephen Colbert where he explained the reason Republicans and conservatives have coalesced around Donald Trump.

Jon Stewart cameo with Stephen Colbert was epic. The first part of his skit, in Daily Show form, used snippets to point out the hypocrisy of conservatives now supporting Donald Trump. Everything they claimed they hated about President Obama was instantiated in Trump. In other words, Trump not Obama is what they supposedly hated or feared.
But it is the ending of Stewart’s appearance that really called out the Trump following conservatives. And he pulled no punches.
“So let’s just say it for real. Here is where we are,” Jon Stewart said. “Either Lumpy and his friends are lying about being bothered by thin-skinned authoritarian less than Christian ‘reader of prompter’ being president, or they don’t care — as long as it is their thin-skinned authoritarian tyrant narcissist. You just want that person to give you your country back; because you feel like you are this country’s rightful owner. There is only one problem with that. This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it. It never was.”
Jon Stewart then went to the core of the fallacy that many conservative leaders have ingrained in their followers.
“There is no real America,” Stewart said. “You don’t own patriotism. You don’t own Christianity. You sure as hell don’t own respect for the bravery and sacrifice of the military, police, and firefighters. Trust me.”
Stewart went to the core of the faux patriotism and faux support for the military, police, and firefighters based on his experience while fighting for a bill to take care of them.
“I saw a lot of people on the convention floor in Cleveland with their ‘Blue Lives Matter’ rhetoric who either remained silent or actively fought against the 9/11 First Responder Bill Reauthorization. I see you, and I see your bullshit.”
Stewart then went to the reality of their message. The message of exclusion. The message of the
“You’ve got a problem with those Americans fighting for their place at the table,” Stewart said. “You’ve got a problem with them because you feel like the — what’s Representative Steve King’s word for it — subgroups of Americans are being divisive. Well if you have a problem with that take it up with the founders. ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal. … Those fighting to be included in the ideal of equality are not being divisive. Those fighting to keep those people out are. So Lumpy, you and your friends have embraced Donald Trump. Clearly, the ‘c’ next to your names don’t stand for constitutional or conservative but cravenly convenient [horn blows to save Jon Stewart from cursing live on air].”
