Conservative economics simply a failed policy
Now that Trump stands a chance of winning the mainstream media seem to be giving guys like Ben Stein and Bruce Bartlett a bit more coverage. This is my objective rant about Trump’s economic plan and Reagan conservative Bruce Bartlett’s continued acknowledgement that tax cuts are failed policies.
And then the message that will make every conservative cringe. And here it goes. Here it goes. And this is from Bruce Bartlett, a conservative who worked for Reagan as an advisor to his economic policies. So this is what he says now. The final proof that tax cuts are not the be-all and end-all of growth policy is the Tax Reform Act of 1986 which dropped the top income rate to twenty-eight percent.
Conservative doctrine predicted economic boom but I don’t remember one nor can I find one in the data. Those economists who claim to be following Reagan’s policy by supported Mr. Trump’s large tax cut proposal are guilty of one-size-fits-all economics. I put it worse. They’re guilty of virtual treason.
Because of their economic policy, what has happened to many a family’s fortune, is it has disappeared. So we can speak on a high-level about, ‘Oh these guys are just the way they’re thinking is just so and so, etc., etc.’ That’s not the reality. Policy hurts people.
It’s not a ‘Well I tried this and it didn’t work.’ We know for a fact that these policies hurt people. We continue with these policies we are guilty of what has occurred. And the truth of the matter is you know we convict people of mass murder. We convict people of all these other issues.
If economic policy causes the death of many people, meaning economic policies, social policies, etc. Or those who foment those policies guilty as well? Should they be prosecuted as well? Ah, that’s kind of touchy subject but something that one should consider.
Because these guys sit in their ivory towers and come out with all these policies. Policies they know hurt but help a few of your friends. But they go ahead and do it because we are peons. Right? — The middle class the poor. We are peons. How do we get around those issues?
We’ll talk about that.
Anyhow, there is far more evidence for the last 35 years showing that tax increases do more to stimulate growth than tax cuts. Ya think? Mathematics folks! If I give tax.
If I increased taxes on those who can afford it, those with more disposable income and that money is redistributed — yes I am saying redistributed. I’ll be frank with you. I am a ‘redistributist.’ I believe in redistribution. If I make too much money, I don’t have a problem paying a hell of a lot of taxes.
Why?
I depend on a functioning economy. And a functioning economy means that everyone gets to participate. And anyone who sits down and believe that they’ve earned all the monies that they’ve earned, dream on. You are on the backs of the many that keep the economy going. So I don’t sit down anywhere and think ‘I developed this great piece of software that have sold to hundreds, thousands of companies and somehow all that money is mine.
Hell no.
When I came to this country, I came to a system i came to a system that had a great educational system that was able to fix, to help this brain be able to do the things that it did. It wasn’t on me only was on the engineers. It was on the scientists of the past that created the ladder that brought us all here. Unless we start thinking collectively, unless we start realizing that we are not this these individuals that standalone. Forget it. We better realize that we’re all in this together.
