Democratic strategist Bob Strum called out Andrea Mitchell and the media as he should.

Thank you, Democratic Strategist Bob Strum

Andrea Mitchell was taken aback and becomes very defensive when Bob Shrum scolded her and the media for what is in effect journalistic malpractice.

“I think the press is making a big mistake, is taking the bait,” Bob Shrum said. “I think the reason is that they want a race.” In other words the media instead of reporting the news and doing real investigative journalism to call out the media based on their research, they made Trump’s narrative their own.

Shrum continues.

“I love you. I respect you immensely,” Shrum continued. “But I don’t think this is what the American people want to talk about. They want to talk about jobs. They want to talk about health care. They want to talk about income inequality. And we are still on the same old story. I don’t think it is helping Trump.  He is unfit to be president. He proves it every day.”

Mitchell responded with an interesting note.

“For the record,” Andrea Mitchell replied. “Sometimes our job is to look at things that may not be what the public wants to know about.”

She said if the Clintons were more transparent there would be no issue.

She is right on both counts. That said, where was the media debunking the GOP lies about the Affordable Care Act, Benghazi, stimulus, and many other issues that had a material effect on citizens’ personal economies and lives? The mainstream media is generally derelict and immature. Too often it is nothing but the tool of the wealthy and big business, the American plutocracy.

“Donald Trump has taken us down this road because he has nowhere else to go,” Shrum said. “And I understand that you have to report it but I think it ought to be reported with skepticism. People ought to say, ‘these are outrageous claims, unsubstantiated, and no evidence.”

Mitchell interjected that both NBC and MSNBC has. Really Andrea?

Shrum would have the last substantive word.

“I think it is really important for the press,” Shrum said. “to say that this stuff is unsubstantiated.”

To which Andrea responded, “Point taken.”
