Overpriced EpiPen, the fleecing of America
The maker of the EpiPen, Mylan, is fleecing Americans and provides yet another reason why Medicare-for-all is a must. The pilfer of Americans must stop.
The 400%+ increase in the price of the EpiPen is a clear indication of the lack of humanity and morality in our health care system, read insurance companies, drug companies, and many hospital systems. The actual cost of the drug is about $1 dollar but they bill the customer for $600+.
Health care does not exist in a free market. It exists in an extortive market. When one gets certain illnesses shopping around is not an option. As such, the patient is at the whims or behest of the health care provider, drug company, etc.
It is pathetic that our government has no real legal recourse to stop Mylan from fleecing Americans All Senator Charles E. Grassley could monster was a weak letter to the company asking why.
Of course, CEO Heather Bresch’s pay quadrupled from $5 million to $19 million. The stock skyrocketed. The steep drop occurred because the company is now getting bad publicity for fleecing its customers.
Remember, the unwarranted salary of the CEO, managers, are your monies, your hard earned dollars. The monies transferred to the shareholders are yours.
Medicare-for-all is the only solution.
