Democratic strategist Krystal Ball was not apologetic at all for Hillary Clinton’s comment on ‘basket of deplorables’ as she should not.
In defense of Clinton’s ‘basket of deplorables’ comments
Democratic Strategist Krystal Ball defended Hillary Clinton’s ‘basket of deplorables’ comment stating the fact that ‘the truth hurts’ as she gave examples.
“To be honest with you, the truth hurts.,” said Ball. “I don’t know that it’s half of Trump supporters, but you can’t deny the fact that you’ve got the David Dukes of the world in his camp backing him strongly. You can’t deny the fact that if you go on white nationalist website Stormfront, they love their glorious leader Donald Trump. You can’t deny that when you go to his rallies, you hear the N-word, thrown around casually and Hillary Clinton referred to as the B-word.”
Krystal Ball also implied that economic angst is partially responsible for the rise of Trump.
“So he has tapped into this very ugly stream in America.” Ball said. “She also made sure to lay out similar to what Elizabeth Warren said that there is a large group that is economically stuck and frustrated and frustrated at this system which is also very true. So I think you’ve got both, and I think it’s frankly important to point out the kind of company you’re keeping if you’re going to back somebody like Donald Trump.”
Note that the host immediately came to the defense of Trump pointing out to Krystal Ball that Trump has disavowed his David Duke support. This type of interjection is rarely done to correct the record when Trump surrogates direct any onslaught of false attacks towards Hillary Clinton.
“I don’t agree with what Krystal said about those different groups,” said Scottie Nell Hughes. “I think that it once again is just Hillary Clinton trying to divide. She doesn’t want to unify. And she put a number to it, it’s not like she just said just a small percentage. She said half. That’s a quarter of the American population, considering they’re almost tied in polls right now. And let’s just say something happens and she gets elected, she’s supposed to represent, and to say that one-quarter of the American population is those things? That is wrong.”
“What number would you put to it?” asked Ball. “Because you can’t deny that this is real.”
