Morning Joe’s Mika Brezinski countered Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, something that was lacking throughout the campaign.

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway challenged by Mika Brzezinski

Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski did not allow Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway to spin Clinton ‘basket of deplorables’ comment — ‘Your candidate is not accountable for anything he says.’

By now everyone is aware of the likely numerically accurate account of many of Donald Trump supporters. She figuratively referred to them as a ‘basket of deplorables.’ A self-righteous Kellyanne Conway appeared on Morning Joe to spin the comment.

“I think what is the most candid moment for Hillary Clinton came Friday night,” said Conway. “We got her true feelings, what she thinks about tens of millions of Americans. That is so personally offensive to me.”

Mika Brzezinski did not let that stand. She did what journalists have been failing to do with Donald Trump and his surrogates, push back on the fallacies, misinformation, misrepresentations and outright lies.

“I think she actually meant people who support the Muslim ban and are racists and sexists,” Brzezinski said. “And say things that are so despicable and they go against the really basic tenets and morals that our country is based on.”

Kellyanne then asked why did she apologize. To be frank, she did not apologize for the sentiment. She apologized for adding a number, half to the statement. Mika’s response was perfect.

“Because it came off wrong,” Mika said. “And using the word half was incorrect. We are still waiting to hear your candidate say that he thinks that the President was born in this country. And there is a long list of things that he has said that he has not apologized for that really are deplorable. How do you confront that and then find yourself able to call out Hillary Clinton on something that she actually has apologized for when your candidate is not accountable for anything he says, not one thing. He on, quite frankly September 11th weekend, talked about how Hillary Clinton shooting someone in the heart. Is that OK?”

Kellyanne’s response was telling. She adopted the Trump pathology of not backing down.

“He was using that as an example of what she gets away with the media,” Kellyanne said. “And that’s probably true.”

Kellyanne may do well to remember all that she said prior to being Trump’s campaign manager.
