Howard Dean goes after the media passionately accusing them of creating Donald Trump and using double standards in the campaign. He told them to do their job!
Stephanie Ruhle pointed out to Dean that he is under criticism for his tweet that said “Notice Trump sniffing all the time. Coke user?” To be clear, while the mainstream media and other progressives are hyperventilating about the tweet, I think it is more than a valid question given Donald Trump’s erratic behavior. Donald Trump’s morning tweet attacking the Venezuelan Miss Universe is probative. He is tweeting about sex tapes at three in the morning.
Ruhle asked if Dean stood by the tweet. He did not back down from the tweet. In fact, when Ruhle implied that Trump never did cocaine, Dean balked. “I don’t know that we know that.” He said he would be willing to apologize not to Donald Trump but for the innuendo. In other words, maybe he wanted to word it differently.
Howard Dean then went on a tongue lashing.
“The problem is much greater than that,” Howard Dean said. “I would like the media of this country to apologize. … We have used a double standard on Donald Trump and created Donald Trump — two billion dollars worth of free time. Why? Because his ratings are great. The Trump show, the Trump Chinese ties, and the Trump meat, and the Trump all this stuff keeping Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders off the air on the night of the Florida primary, calling into talk shows, including the most venerable talk shows in the country, the Sunday talk shows. Do you think Russert or Bob Schiefer would let a candidate call into the talk show in his pajamas? The media has given this guy a free ride … Do your job.”
